Talisman / Hybrid folklore


Saar Scheerlings (1990) is interested in the merging of cultures, crossing time and space.Places of exchange where crafts and visual languages create new constructions.
Her work shows the hand and interests of the maker and is open to multiple interpretations.

Saar Scheerlings (1990)  studied at Design Academy Eindhoven, is a theater designer and makes sculptures, paintings and installation in her autonomous practice.


To gather her materials she travels anywhere between foreign countries and local thriftstores. The soft sculptures are made out of foam matresses from a bankrupt holidaypark, leftover fabrics, yarns from stocksales in the textile industry and some wool Saar bought in the Indian Himalaya’s
