Alia Ali’s body of work are photographic sculptural series that references intertwining histories, cultural narratives. We present works from Alia Ali’s series INDIGO (2021), FLUX, (2019-2021) and MIGRATION (2021). Alia Ali refers to the complex cultural narratives and creative processes associated with the history of these textile fabrics, and looks at personal and oral history and writes a narrative different from that of the Western canon. Reflecting on the past and present, after which space is created for the possibilities of the future.

UNSEEN –   With Alia Ali

Unseen keert van 17 – 19 September 2021 terug naar het iconische cultuurpark Westergas in Amsterdam, om weer de nieuwste ontwikkelingen op het gebied van hedendaagse fotografie te laten zien.

Ondanks de beperkingen die veel mondiale kunstbeurzen parten spelen, presenteert Unseen een ijzersterke internationale selectie deelnemers voor de aanstaande editie van 16-19 September dit jaar. Daarbij is vooral een duidelijke aanwezigheid van Europese top galleries zichtbaar. Naast Nederland zijn met name Frankrijk, Belgie, Duitsland, Zwitserland en Italie sterk vertegenwoordigd.

Het grote aantal internationale galleries en de hoge kwaliteit van de presentaties verklaart lid van het selectie committee Kathelene Fox Davies : “Ik geloof oprecht dat de Unseen de meest belangvolle gebeurtenis is in de wereld van fotografie op dit moment”.

Art Rotterdam –  stand N6   met Marie Pop
1 juli – 4 juli

De tweeëntwintigste editie van Art Rotterdam, wederom in de iconische Van Nelle Fabriek, vindt plaats in hartje zomer, van donderdag 1 tot en met zondag 4 juli. Dit jaar valt er rondom het gebouw, in de buitenlucht, extra veel te beleven. Naast grootschalige werken en installaties, vaak speciaal voor deze gelegenheid ontworpen, bevinden zich op het buitenterrein ook meerdere foodtrucks met drinks & bites. Binnen, op een vloeroppervlak van meer dan 10.000 m2, tonen ruim 100 galeries het werk van aanstormend en gevestigd talent.
